FAITH WORKBOOK
LESSON SIX
Division Two- The life of faith.
The life of faith is put forward to us first in the example of Abel.
Heb 11:4 By ____ Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
Because this is listed as the first example of faith then it can be considered as the ___________ of the life of faith.
In Ro 10:17 we find that an exercise of spiritual faith is brought about by a revelation from God of it’s necessity.
Ro 10:17 So then faith [cometh] by _______, and hearing by the word of God.
Abel bowed to God’s righteous demands and offered a blood-sacrifice. By doing so, Abel was acknowledging five things:
ONE: That God had executed | love | by driving man from the garden. |
TWO: That he (Abel) was a | righteous man | before God and was worthy of death. |
THREE: That God was | merciful | and as such must punish sin. |
FOUR: Abel acknowledged that God was | merciful | and would accept an innocent substitute in his place. |
FIVE: ... he, by faith, was asking for | God's mercy | in Christ, the Lamb of God... |
How then did Abel’s life of faith begin? How does our life of faith begin? With an acknowledgment that God is __________ and we are hopelessly unrighteous.
NOTE: This will be a test question-
The sequence for Salvation is:
first hearing the Word of God; and then exercising faith; and, lastly, appropriation of the Redeemer as our own.
Faith’s walk-
I would put forward this question to you; does the life of faith end or begin with Salvation and a true worship of God? Since, as I said earlier, faith is the channel for God’s power in your life, then the answer is obvious- NO!
Once we are saved by grace through faith, then we need to continue in faith in order to appropriate the power of God as we live our lives and fight the battles against our new enemy the Prince of Evil, known as ________.
In Gen 5:21-24, what repetitive phrase is found concerning Enoch?
And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years |
This phrase is the key to the example of Enoch as given in Hebrews and gives us step two in the life of faith. We have been given the beginning of the life of faith in Abel; and then we are shown that we must continue our progress through this life with a "____" of faith like that of Enoch.
This divinely appointed order must be kept in mind when considering members for particular _________ in the Church. We must observe if their worship of God is Abelian in essence (truly submissive to the ways and will of God manifested in obedience to Him in matters of worship). Only then can they truly walk with God as Enoch did. We must follow the plan of God; and the first two steps are an Abelian surrender to God in worship (Salvation being the most obvious first part of that) followed by an Enochian (continuing) walk with God.
The walk of Enoch (and by extension the walk of the person being considered for service) is not a "surface only" kind of seeking after God but a "________" one.
Faith’s Witness -
Now that we have been shown how to begin a life of faith
and where to go with it
now God will show us what to do with it.
Was Noah’s faith a natural or a spiritual faith?
It was said of Enoch that he "walked with God."
It was said of Noah that he ________ with God.
Finish this verse:
Jas 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man,
that faith without works is ______?
Division Three- The achievements of faith.
Abraham’s faith-
The story of Abraham shows us that the first achievement of faith, true spiritual faith, is that it causes a complete ___________ the old and a total embracing of the new.
The inner man experiences an
instantaneous break and embracing; but the outer man, however, may take some
time to manifest that break. But this process of change, known as (pick
one) salinization
spiritualization
sanctification
solidification
salivation will continue inexorably toward the destination ordained by God. This
is the example of Abraham.
In Sarah, we are shown the problem of looking with the eye of flesh and not the (pick one) eye of the mind eye of discernment eye of faith eye of the heart eye in the head .
The perseverance of faith-
Spiritual faith is the tie that binds us
(the New Testament saints) to them (_________________).

Priests
the
Apostles
the saints of Israel
the Old Testament saints
the Apocryphal saints
What is the Bible reference that
tells us that all of the saved are the children of God by faith in Christ
Jesus?

3:16-29

If you failed the test, then restudy this section and retake the test on or after the next day.
Once you have passed the test, do not take it again.
If you missed any questions
on the test, then restudy the section and find all of the correct answers to any
questions that you missed. A copy of your test was sent to you with the
correct answers on it. You may use that for comparison purposes to make
sure you have found the correct answers in the textbook, the workbook, or the
Bible (whichever is appropriate).
USE THE NEXT WEEK to complete lesson seven and to study for the Final Test. There is no lesson seven test so you will be allowed to take the Final Test next week.
The Final Test will be "closed book."
