COMPARATIVE THEOLOGY

Welcome to the Comparative Theology class.

In this course we will examine most of the mainline Religions and some of the more well-known "Christian" cults.  We will learn some of their major doctrinal beliefs and then compare them with the Bible.  The King James Version of the Bible will be considered the final authority for all issues of comparison.

  • Method of study:
    -   Study
the textbook one section at a time.  Not more than one section may be completed each week.  Some sections will take more than one week to complete.
    -   At the end of each section you will stop and take the Section Test that corresponds with the section you just finished studying.  All tests are "open book," which means you may use your textbook while taking the tests. You may submit your section tests on the 7th day of the week of study for that section of the textbook.
    - If you have not already done so, please read and submit the Testing Instruction Form.  On that form you will find instructions concerning how to fill in the information page on the tests.  You will also find out your "User ID" and your "User Name" on that form.  Results of the tests will be emailed to you automatically.
    - If you do not correctly fill in all of the information on the information page of the test in accordance with the instructions on the Testing Instruction Form, then your results will not be directed to the proper file here at the college and your score may not be added to your file.  In addition, if you submit an incorrect email address on the information page of the test, then your copy of the test cannot be automatically sent to you by the testing program and your test will not be routed to the proper file here at SLBC.

  • SIGN-IN first for this course and mark the form "Begin" unless you have done so previously.  You do not sign in when you finish each lesson.  You only do so and mark the form "Finish" when you have completed the entire course and you are ready for the Final Test.

  • Download and print the COURSE RECORD FORM.  On it you will keep a record of your sign in "Begin" date because you will be required to enter it on the Sign In "Finish" form that you will submit at the end of the entire course.  You will also keep other pertinent information on that form such as date and score for each test so that you will be able to keep track of your progress through the course.

  • ATTENDANCE:
    - Minimum required attendance for each lesson is 1 week.

    - Minimum required attendance for the entire course is 11 weeks.

  • After completing a test:
    -   Once you have passed a test, do not take it again.
    -   If you failed the test then you must restudy that entire section and then retake the test. Repeat this process until you finally pass the test.
ATTENTION:  If you fail a test, you MAY NOT attempt that test again on the same day.  You must restudy the textbook/workbook and find all of the correct answers to the questions missed and then retake the test no sooner than the next day.
    -   If you passed the test but missed some of the questions on any test, then you must review the section corresponding to that test and find the correct answers to any questions answered incorrectly.  Your copy of the test, which is automatically emailed to you, will give you the correct answers for comparison.  Once you have found all of the correct answers in the textbook, then you may continue on to the next section.
