John and Wanda Casias
(Martyred on January 31, 2012 in Monterey, Mexico)

John and Wanda Casias, missionaries to Old Mexico, were taken to be with Jesus on January 31st, 2012. John Frank Casias, born on August 20th, 1935, was the son of Julio and Mercedes Casias. From a childhood of poverty, in his early adulthood John managed to utilize his unique talent to personally connect with people, and he forged a successful business career. It was at this time that he met Wanda Sue Pryor. Wanda Sue Pryor was born on November 21st, 1944, the daughter of H.M. and Lois Pryor. In early adulthood, she moved from Childress, Texas and worked as a secretary and in various political causes before meeting and marrying John Casias on March 3rd, 1972 in Amarillo, Texas. After marrying John, she became an insurance underwriter and eventually, with her enthusiasm and strict sense of integrity, she became a successful insurance sales person. Subsequently, John Casias became a Christian in October of 1972, and Wanda Casias became a Christian in September of 1979. In May of 1980, John and Wanda were called into the ministry. Mentored by their close personal friend, Dr. James Wilkins, John and Wanda moved from Amarillo to Dallas (TX) in order to work with New Testament Ministries for the discipleship of new Christians. Shortly thereafter, John and Wanda felt called as missionaries to the country of Mexico. Their deep love for both the people and country of Mexico endured throughout nearly 30 years of service, and through God’s grace they have touched countless lives. John and Wanda are survived by ten children, Valerie Alirez, Johnny Casias, Frank Casias, Dominick Casias, Judon Casias, Shawn Casias, Ted Cave, Michelle Lumert, Troy Cave, and Temple Cave, as well as 63 grandchildren and great grandchildren. A memorial service to celebrate their lives will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at Liberty Baptist Church in Lewisville. Interment will follow at Old Hall Cemetery in Lewisville. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to be made to the Liberty Baptist Church Missions Fund, 602 Manco Rd., Lewisville, TX 75057.
